: Get a haircut!
Thursday, October 29 2009

Looking back on my first major attempt at Painter while working on this next piece really shows how far I've come.

Everything about Tomoe is big. Big hair, big zippers, big attitude, and most notably...a big heart. I probably spent a good third of this drawing just working on the hair. I don't think I'll draw her hair down next time. I like how it came out though. I'd like to think every drawing I do gets a little shinier.

: Naked and Clubbin'

I hope I get a lot of hits with that title!

Hey I draw robots sometimes. This is one of them.

I'm sure the lighting could have been better, but EVERYTHING IS SHINY. It was some good shiny practice, that's for sure. As usual, image description is up in the gallery.

: still the bane of my existence

Perspective. Boy it's swell. My last few drawings have all looked incredibly similar so the first thing I decided on for this piece was some kind of dynamic pose in perspective. After I was ready to color the first attempt, I decided that I just couldn't stand it and started over.

I used photos of Kuroki Meisa as a reference on the original, but I just really like big eyes and small facial features. I didn't concern myself with realism as much with the image below.

Since I didn't really nail the perspective on the sword, I didn't bother adding the daggers. I still want her to have that long scarf, but in reality a ninja mercenary on Mars really doesn't need something like that.

: Brown does not blend well...
Thursday, October 8 2009

in Painter. Oh well, it still looks sort of like leather. I'm not really sure what material it is. I just know that it's heavy, and brown.

I definately like this look more than my last attempt in the cave. I used a photo of Maht Dayyyymunn for a slightly more realistic looking face. I definately did NOT try to copy his face so this is not some failed attempt of anime Matt Daymon cyborg. This is probably my favorite male drawing in a long time.

While looking for reference headshots, I found one very attractive lady that I plan on using for my next drawing...

: have yourself some fanart

This was bound to happen eventually. Radirgy or "Radio Allergy" is a vertical shooter with a stylish cell-shaded look. I was going to provide a video link but I wasn't satisfied with what youtube was offering.

I realized I don't have much to say about this piece...OH that purple hair was such a huge pain and I'm still not satisfied with it. I'm not really sure WHY it was so difficult, but it was.
