: The most important things are left unsaid
Tuesday, January 31 2006

2 days into the semester and I have already aquired a wealth of knowledge:

1. Majoring in a subject that will eventually lead me to a career in videogame development has finally required that I buy a VIDEOGAME for my class. Yes I have purchased Unreal Tournament 2004 (instead of asking someone else to download an install file and then send it to me over AIM because my school hates 98% of the functionality of the internet). I'll be creating a map using the Unreal Editor, but of course I will be working on my own models and textures with other programs. The good news is that my computer still cannot handle "intense" 3D graphics as a little time with some maps forced my computer to beep and shut down. Boy it's a good thing I never tried playing the computer generated Starship Troopers movie, or everything in my tower would vaporize into tiny particles that would immediately solidify under the intense heat and pressure into a fine paste I like to call "compudding."

2. Earth Science II is going to be just as easy as Earth Science I, only now the room is a little smaller and I care even less about what I'm learning this time.

3. With my new backpack, I have yet to have that person during the first week of class say "hey can I look at your bag?" I'd say "sure" and never speak to that person ever again.

4. Kefka is a dick. Seriously, he's like pure evil and incredibly weak. I assume he gets to be godlike at some point because I once saw a parody to the end of FF6 with game consoles and 3 teams fought against the PSP and tragically the original game boy died, but he will live on forever in the game boy color...Somehow I think this quest of mine to play every RPG I missed out on isn't going to end any time soon.

Heh I guess I was looking at the January calendar when I was talking about the 2nd...my bad...

I wonder how prozac tastes...

: WHAT?!
Saturday, January 28 2006

The 2nd is MONDAY, NOT Thursday! I totally could have worked! Don't try to pin it on me! Bah! [/rant]

You know, maybe I finally understand things. Things suck.

So classes start up again on Monday (which is the 2nd) which may be beneficial or detremental to my productivity. It's certainly a guranteed disadvantage for my dongle. That much at least, I am certain of. Ok gotta get back to packing.

: Progress is progressing!
Tuesday, January 24 2006

You may have noticed things look a tiny bit different over here. Big purple text is the wave of the future! Con-trast 2.0 is steadily approaching, but when the transition is finally made, I am not certain. I mean I could really crank everything out in a few days, but that doesn't factor in me moving back up to college this weekend. It also doesn't consider all the hairy colossi I have to take down. It's possible for you to take a sneak peak at the new main page, but it would take some hardcore sleuthing on your part to find it. It's up here somewhere...

Hey, speaking of me not doing a comic this week, MrBot is becoming more and more 3d lately. It's uncanny! Most people say that once you go mainstream, you can't go back. Here's hoping he can because I got a story to tell, damnit. Wanna see?

I hope I don't have to remind you to read my article. Sure it's a little long and uninteresting to most people, but I put a lot of cow heart and soul into it! I should note that my choice for graphics was incorrect as I had not seen how amazing Dead or Alive 4 was in person yet.

: BEST GAMES OF 2005!!
Friday, January 20 2006

Whew, 3 articles a year is about all I can handle and I'm happy to report that the first one is now up! To all of you that entered the email contest in last month's "Rock the Vote 2005!" a winner will be picked shortly. The grand prize winner will receive last year's top game as well as a Con-trast brand cooler with free ice pack. Unfortunately this also means that I won't be taking any more entries because that would be cheating!

Read it here!

I guess an emo rant disguised as a joke is still an emo rant...

Something that has always inherently bothered me is whispering. I had this biology class in high school and these girls used to whisper all the time and it drove me nuts! Can you believe they actually made a DOLL that whispered? Baby whisper-a-lot or something. That's usually how they name dolls. Baby-pees-a-lot, Baby-files-taxes-on-time, etc. Sometimes whispering can be fun, but only when there's no reason for it. The fact remains, whispering is creepy and if you can't talk, use sign language or just shrug every time someone talks to you.

: Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
Monday, January 16 2006

You know, I've always had issues with people. Most people I could care less about. You, reading this, yeah, you can go to hell (unless you're a regular visitor!). I actually like demeaning strangers (especially kids) more than real conversation. It makes me feel big. I'm behind the counter, therefore I am MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU! But I tell you what kiddies. You take away that counter and I lose it. I got nothing! Sure, Ive pushed kids on the sidewalk into buildings, but did anybody see it? Well a few people, but the point is that it doesn't matter!

What really matters is the people you associate yourself with. I call these people "associates." The key to maintaining Nick's brand of associate relationship is constant interrogation! A light is not necessary, but if you do not know every waking detail about your associates, you fail as an...associ-er. Insensitivity and a lack of common sense are also important factors in ruining any kind of relationship that may have accidentally started to form. If you find your associates being "nice" and "understanding," you make sure to give them a swift kick in the teeth! Any kind of irrational bullshit will do. False accusations help this along as few things feel worse than being told you're a liar. If all else fails and you still find yourself "happy" and sharing such happiness with others, just make sure to pound the point home! Never shut up and always be persistent! Sooner or later they will realize you aren't worth it and you can go back to the good things in life like posting ridiculous confessions on a website.

: Someone needs to inject cream soda into my bloodstream
Sunday, January 8 2006

That's not to say I LOVE cream soda. It's just completely necessary for my body to function at today's competitive level. Don't worry though. I've got my wristband. SNAP!

I think some of my posts are just vague enough that only I and maybe 2 other people understand what I'm saying. So what did you think of MrBot in the third dimension eh? Would you believe that the hardest part of bringing him into 3d (so far) has been the area between his nose and eyes and his eyebrows? I've tried making them brows like 4 times! This is actually the third head I've worked on. Getting his eyes just right (not there yet) is so much harder than working on a human head. BELIEVE IT! You'd think it would be easier, but polygons don't like to do what I tell them to. Hell, that area between the eyes that comes to a point doesnt actually connect. I couldn't figure out a way to do it if I wanted that shape! Am I that pathetic? Im not learning Lightwave again! Christ, it's not even the industry standard. SO MANY WASTED YEARS!!

Man I totally thought Id have 4 whole comics done this winter and so far all I've done is work on one of them. I've reset my goal to 2 because I need to get 3D MrBot done. Also I'm about halfway done with my latest article: Nick's Greatest Games of 2005! It will be up...eventually. I've got a physical on Monday. I need to relax.

: Just like Livejournal!

My mood: discombobulated (>'')>

adlkajdflkjadlklkjdflkjadflijopiqoinvcqoeinacvepoadsjalkdlkfjd
adlkfjsd;lfkmavpoimeqpoinvqpoij3oiaeofiavneoijadfja;leivnoei

I think you can tell from my random key presses that I use the "home row" to type. One time a customer said that to me and I fucking punched him in the ear. Half of that sentence isn't true.

Ignorance IS bliss. This is why I don't watch the news. Why, were it not for yahoo.com being my home page and their up to the minute news updates that I occasionally read when I like the picture that goes along with it; I wouldn't even know about things like hurricane katrina, celebrities getting into car accidents, big tsunamis, or the state of Wisconsin. The fact of the matter is, I don't know jack and I live by that. I dont LIKE that i dont know jack, but knowing jack is too much work. Knowing jack is like doing a weekly comic strip.

ZING!

Honestly I dont find half the stuff I say funny. It's just fun to type. Kind of like the alphabet abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz. We used to type the alphabet in dreamcast chat to see who could type the fastest, but I was always the one that said GO! so I had a handicap. Also I think some people typed it up ahead of time. Chat is for losers.

But yeah, naivete (sp?) is good too. It's better to believe everything you want than to assume the worst whenever possible. I'm gullible, but unfortunately I am not naive. I wish I was. I wish I could devote my life and wardrobe to at least one team per professional sport. I wish I could enjoy crappy reality television and sitcoms that revolve around sexual innuendo. I wish I liked drinking and going to clubs to find someone for a night of fun. I wish they never cancelled John Doe so I could find out what the hell was going on! Life's only as hard as you make it. Got no money? Become a bum and never shower again. Don't want to be a bum? Well then life's tough for you fatty! You see what I'm getting at?

: Snow what?
Thursday, January 5 2006

Stupid snow. First it makes me drive slowly, then it makes me get towed a very short distance, then it makes me shovel, THEN it takes my goddamn internet for TWO DAYS! I really had a swell story to tell with pictures and balloons 2 days ago, but now it doesn't really seem worth it. Okay I will definately post the pictures, but my memories don't last long so I'll probably just make the story up after looking at them.

A MrBot of the 3rd dimension has been progressing steadily. I pop the program (disgustingly horrible Lightwave Modeller) open every now and then and move a polygon. MrBot's face now looks like the new oompa loompa(s) from that movie about chocolate and poverty. It's getting better but MAAAN does that program.....anyways, procrastination prevails now that I have the internet back. If I was to pick the two worst days of my life, I'd have to say that not having the internet gave me ample time to think about those two days.

Closing comments: I can't believe Prince of Persia ended without any kind of sex! You just come to expect this sort of thing. Also random battles in rpg's do NOT piss me off when they go by so quickly and you can mash X really fast for the really easy battles. Yes, Breath of Fire 3 is good and even LOOKS good on my tv that tends to put all of my old games through a barf filter. My back hurts.
